Continuing the theme of making space, construction is nearing completion for an exciting new storage space at our Farm offices in Swardeston. The scale of the project, soon to be revealed (watch that space too), required us to expand our facilities to store large quantities of bespoke furniture. Cut to – Warehouse number 3! Standing alongside our grand Spatial Design Warehouse and Technical Warehouse, will be our new Storage Warehouse soon to be completed on the 19th July.
After having lived in a virtual world for so long it’s great to see something tangible progressing in front of our eyes. We’ve had some fantastic feedback from clients already who have been blown away by our commitment to them and their projects. See what they had to say below:
I wanted to say a massive thank you for taking the time to show us around your offices and warehouse today. I am blown away and cannot wait to see the finished product. It’s clear that you have a great deal of passion and enthusiasms for what you do!
Thank you so much for everything you and your teams have done so far and I have every confidence that you will make a significant difference to our operations on-site.
As ever in our efforts to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, we have taken the opportunity to become more energy efficient. We are progressing with a proposal to solar panels across two of our warehouses to help generate our own electricity and take us one step closer to carbon neutral. On top of this we have invested in special translucent cladding on the north facing elevation of the roof for Warehouse 3; which means throughout the day we will use less electricity and instead use the natural light created in the space. And finally, we will be planting a native British hedge along the length of the warehouse to screen the building from those viewing it from the road in the distance, making it more aesthetically pleasing and more importantly giving something back to nature.
Although we aren’t yet ready to make the announcement, we look forward to the grand unveiling of our new project in the coming months and the completion of our new Warehouse. Until then… watch this space...
As life opens up with the easing of lockdown restrictions, here at Pb we’ve all been taking the opportunity to explore the great outdoors. Even more so with the incentive of a photo op! Our team have been out and about ‘Making Space’ in our fantastic brand-new summer hoodies and the creativity has been rolling in by the bucket load. Check out some our favourites below:
As we reach another Wellbeing Wednesday we are reminded to make space – space for ourselves, for our friends and family, colleagues and clients. Space to grow, create and develop but also space to relax and reflect. We hope you too can make a little extra space for yourself today and maybe even head outdoors for an impromptu photo shoot!

Earth Day 2021
As we face the looming crisis of climate change and biodiversity loss, we are keen to take action and play our part in protecting our planet.
This space for nature boasts over one hundred mature oak trees which stand amongst a mix of native trees. Through springtime a beautiful carpet of bluebells and wild garlic sits beneath the overhead canopy of young leaves. Supporting more species of life than any other native tree, oak trees are vital for biodiversity. From tiny insects to a herd of red deer, we know that many species enjoy our woodland habitat. As restrictions ease, we’ll be looking to take our team to the wood to enjoy the environment and undertake some conservation work together.
Amongst the many benefits of trees, increasing numbers of studies show that they are good for mental health. We hope the woodland gives us opportunities to be good for our wellbeing, as well as for nature. We have a number of exciting plans in place to raise the bar of our sustainability programme which we’ll post about in the coming months.

Safe, Secure and Covid free
As we reached the end of 2020; concerns about new, more virulent strains of Covid, high numbers of cases and growing pressure on the NHS signalled a need for reviewing our arrangements to keep operating whilst minimising the risk to our people. It was no real surprise that the first working day of 2021 brought the arrival of new national restrictions and updated guidelines to follow.
Whilst the majority of our team have worked remotely for almost a year, we have a team working hard to support client communications through virtual events which rely on the infrastructure we have at base as well as workshop operations in our Exhibition & Spatial Design department.
We welcomed the onsite teams back with virtual meetings to share our new arrangements and seek their feedback. With the elevated risk, we decided to enhance the existing controls we had in place by implementing mask wearing at all times in our premises.
Although our virtual event control spaces were designed to accommodate social distancing, we repurposed the small recording spaces behind them to allow greater separation between the Technical Services team and Live Event Producers, adding Perspex windows to allow visibility between the spaces.
Feedback from those working onsite about the safety measures we have in place has been really positive. Phil Rae, Health & Safety Manager says “We’re really grateful for the efforts of our team to keep going in these tough times, and it’s nice to know they appreciate the steps we’ve taken to try to keep them as safe as possible.”
Yoga with Fiona
We’re passionate about people who are passionate which is why when one of our lovely Exhibition & Spatial Designers, Fiona came to us with the idea to offer her colleagues a free hour of Yoga classes as part of our #wellbeingwednesday, we bent over backwards to make it happen. Here’s what Fiona has to say:
Yoga helps me balance the daily stresses of life and work. Through movement I can calm the mind and draw my attention away from rambling thoughts, even if just for half an hour, leaving me refreshed to tackle my day.
I wanted to give my colleagues an opportunity to do this too, try something different, move their bodies and also to reconnect with each other once a week.
We have a small number of attendees every week but whatever the number, it’s worth it for me to be there as and when people need it. People are enjoying it as a break from what could otherwise be another lunch at their desk with little to no break from their screens. Personally, I am also enjoying connecting to my colleagues in a non-work setting and seeing their smiley faces at the end of our class.
With lockdown continuing to keep us all apart from friends, loved ones and colleagues we wanted to make sure that during these tough times that we all took some time for ourselves to look after our own mental and physical health so… role on Wellbeing Wednesday. Every Wednesday we encourage our team to take an hour out of their day to go for walk (dog optional), partake in a hobby, call a friend or write in a journal – whatever makes them happy – to ensure that in these isolating times, we are still very much connected with the things that make us tick. We’ve all been sharing photos of our different Wellbeing activities and it has given us all a real boost by focusing on the positives. Goes to show how a small idea can make a big impact. #wellbeingwednesday

Award winning Apps by Pb!
Homerton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has this year developed a means of providing essential knowledge to frontline staff in the form of ‘Action Cards’ via a new app. We here at Pb designed and created an app that delivers responsive regular updates, info and inter-activity (all done in partnership with a global healthcare tech company, a member of the Foundation Trust and BD). The app was introduced to the A&E team in January 2019 and has been widely heralded a success, taking their original ‘Action Cards’ to the next level – demonstrated, not only by the positive feedback of its users, but also the sheer level of usage with 2142 different sessions in the first month alone. The buzz that has been generated around the app is also demonstrated by the glowing feedback and results from its user surveys, with 62% making use of the content daily and nearly 400 devices using the app over 6700 times monthly.
Following this buzz – Homerton University Hospital have won a spectacular award for Patient Safety Learning, for the HUH Action Card App. We are delighted to have helped deliver something that is benefitting so many people and proving to be such a success within hospitals! Congratulations to all involved for this fantastic achievement and a special thanks to our wonderful Digital Department, Ed Sanderson and Simon Griffith, for delivering this fantastic software to Homerton Hospital

UEA – New Science Building Installation
Even though we’re celebrating our 30th this year we’re proud to say that we’re heading back to university. We are supporting the University of East Anglia (UEA) – one of the country’s leading universities, and a renowned research institute, to deliver eye catching and compelling installation as part of their new science building.
As a centre for innovation, collaboration and excellence, the New Science building represents the core value of the UEA – ‘thinking without borders’ – and we have been tasked with creating installations with wall branding and other collateral to reflect and celebrate this ideal.
