Big Norfolk Holiday Fun: Case study

The challenge

Active Norfolk is one of a network of 43 Active Partnerships created by Sport England. Hosted by Norfolk County Council, its role is to provide a strategic approach to the development of sport and physical activity in the county. For the school holidays, its Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme provides holiday activities for children and young people aged 5-16 and Active Norfolk approached Pb to create a series of videos showcasing some of the offerings and the impact the programme has on individuals and the local community. They wanted these videos to feature captivating images of the activities, interviews with the participants and motion graphics depicting statistics and data about the benefits of participation.

The solution

We collaborated with Active Norfolk to agree on a series of four promotional videos, which were strategically designed to highlight specific provisions that Active Norfolk wanted to emphasise and secure new funding. Our creative vision for these videos involved a dynamic blend of filmed footage and motion graphics to allow us to present statistical information in an engaging and memorable way with a focus on Active Norfolk’s brand designs, fonts and colours.

From the outset we settled on a documentary approach as we wanted the participants’ and organisers’ passionate voices to be heard loud and clear, as well as portraying the experiences in an authentic, playful, and relaxed way, avoiding an overly corporate or advertorial tone which Active Norfolk were keen to avoid.

The production took us across Norfolk to three different activity venues enabling us to get capture the wide range of activities that the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme facilitates. We got some great footage, conducted some fascinating interviews and met a lot of very friendly and inspirational people too!

We also placed a focus on vibrant colour grading to aid the type of video the client wanted, which provided an excellent opportunity to utilise our newly established colour grading and audio mixing station in Pb’s Creative office. By maximizing our video and audio capabilities, we ensured that the final product met the highest standards of quality, which is reflected in the final edits and made them a joy to put together for our editor!

The outcome

Our clients at Active Norfolk were extremely pleased with the content we created for them. They now plan on using these videos for promotional and lobbying purposes to showcase the impact the programme has had on the local community and hopefully secure funding for similar future endeavours.
